I am # 1 so why try harder? part1

The title of this article was inspired by Fatboy Slim 's  album

Τoday I heared the news about  Kodak and instantly this title of my favorite Dj came on my mind. How it is even possible for a giant like this to be one step before bankrupcy? Really wtf??? This company is a legend and has shaped the modern world (in a small part of cource).

As I read on wiki :
"Kodak has long been known for its wide range of photographic film products. During most of the 20th century Kodak held a dominant position in photographic film, and in 1976 had a 90% market share of photographic film sales in the United States.

Since the late 1990s, Kodak has struggled financially as a result of the decline in sales of photographic film, and 2007 was the most recent year in which the company made a profit. As part of its turnaround strategy, Kodak has focused on digital photography and digital printing."

Now what happened here ... Obviously Kodak focused only on films and didn't adapt to new challenging technological evolvements. It is completely stupid to see world around you change and stay the same because you think you are number one. Yes, of course you are, but now you are a bankrupt #1!! When the market changes direction and walks to a digital future, why stay focused only on films? Evolve damit!!!!

17 years without profit… What can I say, really I am speechless… When you need so much time to take so obvious decisions, then there is not much to say. In a challenging and blood sucking market, adapting is the most crucial thing to do. Imagine Kodak with so much profits until 90s how much progress could achieve in digital photography research!! A huge head start could be taken, but instead profits were used to cover financial losses …

Bad decisions point to bad results and I am really curious to know how much did they pay the head manager for acting so dumb… Never mind, I hope from the bottom of my heart for Kodak to protagonize once again in photography and avoid bankruptcy.
