Humanity is on a crucial curve.

Today’s post is not about 2012, nor about UFO’s and the return of ET because he forgot his pair of sunglasses.

As many of you know earth’s population is constantly rising. Recently the 7 billion barrier was broken and I don’t see a decline any time near. Of course, for this increment to continue two factors are crucial, price of oil and food. As you can see here, there is an absolute relation between human population and energy production (especially coal, oil and gas). As long as production increases so does the population. On the other hand more people need more food.  So far we have seen food prices increase because of that, more mouths to feed and less food to satisfy their need! I don’t know how this is going to end but it is a big issue to consider!

Economic crisis. Almost every nation on the planet is in debt and with the right circumstances, suffocation on every economy can occur. Let’s talk about some examples that currently are risk free, Germany and Norway. Germany’s economy is mainly based on exports; Norway’s is based on oil production. Imagine a plunge in oil prices and a drop on Germany’s exports (of course a lot bigger than just this ). It can happen, I don’t believe it is that easy but still very like. For the lest less fortunate now, currently there are very few countries with AAA rating, meaning it gets tougher for them to lend with a reasonable interests and so their increasing debt will soon become unbearable.

Europe, Russia and China have an increasing aging population and soon their society won’t be sustainable. The impact will be huge in their economy and their pension.

A new cold war has emerged. The latest years we have seen a very good relation between Russia, China and South American countries. They have been doing common exercises with their militaries, loans have been given for buying military equipment and a negative stance towards USA has been adopted. Of course they have their reasons as USA has began a monetary war with China and a Ballistic Missile Defense System is being built in Europe and NATO allied countries.

A possible war. You know something; we have been living on this planet for thousands of years and countless wars have occurred. Because our generation hasn’t lived one, that doesn’t mean it won’t happen in the future! I think it is more likely to happen in the following 10-20 years since no major conflicts occurred the past years.

I hope I filled you with optimism, see you tommorow!
