I was doing my regular internet surfing when I came along this video.
After my initial shock passed ,my faith to humanity didn't return though,I was wondering how misguided some people are about science and how they misunderstand scientific theories. That man on the video has other motives clearly but this is another subject to discuss.
It is true that science is a very complex thing for many people. From that fact many misconceptions are generated. It is obvious as well that others use that complexity of the subject to twist it for their own profit. To make things simple you can see which are the tools that scientists use to make their theories.Observation is the first one and it is self explained.A phenomenon can be observed and from that observation comes conclusions which can give birth to a theory. The second tool is experimentation. This is a way to see the validity of a theory by doing a (large) number of repetitions of it and checking the result. The more repetitions the more valid the result. So we get the conclusion that those things are not luck based and there is a background behind each scientific assumption.
With these two in mind it is easy to judge a theory.Someone may say that we cannot test everything by experimenting or observe it or both and he will be right. That's why we speak about theories. This is the meaning of the word after all. Also it is true that for every rule there are exceptions but they don't make the rule. The same applies to theories. You may think ok and so what benefit can I get from all this scientific stuff.Every day a lot of scientific studies are released to the public.By being able to understand what they present you never know what useful thing you may find.
