Burn the burner of the witch

It isn’t a surprise that nowadays there is a big diversity of opinions. Different cultures, different people, different mindsets, different experiences and all of these components, make the human perceive his world differently from others.  The same principal applies to the definition for truth.  In my opinion, there isn’t just one (at least in most cases), but everyone uses his/her own view to determine it, as long as he can support it with arguments.

The problem appears when the truth of the individuals is tried to be imposed on others and the results of this dead-end endeavor are being amplified even more, when it is based on irrational thoughts.  Just like the crusades or the burn of the witches in the middle age, being dogmatic never solves anything. It is not that we are not supposed to make mistakes like the pope or always have clear and full understanding of the situations. Being open-minded and mostly open-hearted never hurt anyone.

No matter the timeline, globally, through press or by politicians, unfortunately truth has been torn apart. In the last years we have seen the bombing of Yugoslavia being masked as ethnic conflicts when the reason was a sperm blemish on the dress of the US president’s secretary. Later we heard the statement of George W. Bush “you either with us or with the enemy in the war against terror”, even if there haven’t been found evidence after 10 years, which support the scale of the wars. Nowadays we have the southern Europeans labeled as lazy PIGS .

Of course these examples are not the only ones and many more can be found but let’s say that those came first in mind cause most of us are familiar with.  Now as we can see, we either are racists if we disagree with Mr Clinton, we are the enemy if we disagree with Mr Bush and worth disrespect if we live in the european south.

My post here is not to tell who’s wrong and who’s right (although I think my opinion is pretty obvious) but to see how easily people can be labeled when you are dogmatic. No matter, we must always be sober. Being dogmatic is everyone’s right, but imposing or brainwashing people isn’t. That’s why as I previously said, being both open minded and open hearted is the only path, at least for me, to follow if you want to be respected.
